Hello, everyone.  I got a helpful email today by a nice gal named Robin.  She is in the market for gluten free products and discovered that www.tartecosmetics.com has several gluten free products.  I have not personally had a chance to ask the company any questions, but this sounds like a great place to look around.
Robin also reported “40% off of everything on their site now (plus free shipping if you spend $40.  Coupon code is "luckyweek3”  Great job sniffing out the sale, Robin :)  I don’t know now long this promotion is going on, but it sounds like this reasonably priced cosmetic line will be even more reasonable for right now.
Here are their comments from the FAQ section about allergens:
At the bottom of every tarte product page in the tarte shop there is an ingredient listing where you can find the ingredients to the products you’re interested in. You can also find a list of gluten free products on the skinvigorating ingredients page. All gluten free products are marked on each product page in the tarte shop. Tarte cannot guarantee that any ingredients or products were produced in an allergen free environment.
I looked at a few products and they do put a clear easy-to-read list of ingredients and various benefits from each product.  Just be sure that you remember Tarte doesn’t guarantee a gluten free environment.  However, for those of you comfortable with cosmetics that are gluten-free by ingredient, you will have several beautiful choices.
If any of you have already purchased something from Tarte Cosmetics, let me know what you think.  Thanks again to Robin for sending me her great find.  :)

I recently came across a new line of gluten-free skin care products that I love--Skin Organics by Ann Webb, which are sold through Whole Foods stores, and can also be ordered online. All their products are gluten-free, vegan, animal cruelty free, paraben-free. They work great and feel very sheer. I've used their coconut cleanser, cucumber hydrating mist, olive eye cream, acai berry night-time moisturizer/skin repair, and cocoa raspberry moisturizer/skin repair--which can be used both day and night. I highly recommend them.

Cheap Cosmetics - I don't think it's wise to say that all of Tarte Cosmetics are gluten free. They never claim that, only that a certain section has products that are gluten free by ingredient.

I will only make a statement that ALL a companies products are gluten free if they say so themselves, or if I or someone else has meticulously gone through the ingredient list of each product and seen no glutenous ingredients.

Please be sure if you are making a broad statement about a company that you have your facts clear. Let's all do our best to keep this a credible source of information for everyone.

I wonder if there is a problem with the website/blogsite. I posted under celiacvanity on 2-7-10 regarding Skin Organics by Ann Webb products, which I recently discovered and really like. For some odd reason the second half of my original 2-7 blog shows up under the name "Cheap Cosmetics" (a screen identity I've never used) on 2-11-10, but with no reference to Skin Organics, so it looks as if the writer were referring to a different brand. Do you have any idea how this could have happened?

I've used the Tarte eyeliner, cheek stain, and mascara. All of them are marked "gluten free." I haven't had a problem with them, but I've only used them about four times.

Oh, and not ALL of the Tarte cosmetics are gluten free. Only the items that are marked gluten free. And you may want to call the company and give them the lot number so they can verify that the gluten free products have no cross contamination issues.

Please see below for messages from a Tarte Representative. It is clearly not safe to say that Tarte cosmetics are gluten free. Be careful out there and beware bad information!

Hello Dana,

There is vitamin E in the lip glosses which is derived from a gluten
source.

Hi Jennifer,
Is there wheat in your lip-gloss as well? I recently purchase the
Holiday collection of 15 glosses and would like to know if they are also
formulated with wheat.

Thank you!

Kind Regards,

Dana Johnston

Hello Dana,

I am very sorry you are having issues with our product but we are not
a
gluten free line and we do formulate with wheat based ingredients.

I recently purchased some of your makeup and noticed that my face is
breaking out. I have Celiac Disease and very sensitive skin and need to
make
sure that I am using makeup that is free of chemicals and wheat/gluten.
I
just noticed that your foundation has wheat protein in it. Please let me
know what other Tarte products contain wheat, as I will need to stop
using
anything containing any type of wheat. This comes as a surprise, as
overall
I love your makeup! It is unfortunate that I can no longer use it.

Thank you.

I just found this last week, and I love it! I wasn't looking for gluten free, just paraben, pthalate and SLS free.

I'm not sure what to look for as far as gluten free... can someone tell me what to look for in the ingredients?
